Came to renew my passport as well as apply for my children’s passports. Keenan was kind and helpful, he left no question unanswered. The library itself was a blast for my kids during our short wait time

Historic for US history at 120 years old. Great facilities and a lot of resources. However, the amount of homeless individuals using all tables and seats didn't result in any chairs or tables open for me to study in quietness.

Very spacious with plenty of seats to sit down or rest. It was the first time I saw patrons could check out a tablet or laptop to use in the library.
The only complaint is the absence of free parking onsite or nearby.

I love the infrastructure and how spacious this place is. Unfortunately, parking is extremely difficult to find. The garage itself is underground so you would have to maneuver around the hectic Houston traffic just to find it and pay around $2/hr at the time of this review. I find it awesome that the library has multiple stories, but it is unfortunate that certain floors have unpleasant scents (I’m assuming coming from many homeless patrons, but I am appreciative that they have a place to use complimentary resources).

There was a time when I placed a book on hold and it had been six months without an update. I decided to go in person and the attendant was kind enough to find the book for me, which was ironically on the shelf below where it was supposed to be placed. That experience bothered me a bit but I am glad that it was at the end, resolved.

Overall, I love the aesthetic of this library and would visit more often if parking was free, even with all the issues mentioned.

Came here to apply for Passport, we were served by Christine Steward who’s extremely efficient and friendly.
With the exception of toilet, rest of the library was clean, well maintained and well lit. All the staff we interact with were helpful and very friendly as well!
Overall, a very pleasant experience!

Loved the kids location over the fourth floor. Fun things to do from craft to games.

Targeting the homeless but problems are not just because of the unhoused.
Police should be used to fight crime not chase homeless people all morning and night just for sitting/standing by the library. It's pointless especially when there is actually REAL CRIME all over Houston that need the cops.

The bald head Mayor guy is the #1 issue from my understanding. Trying to hide the problem doesn't fix it.

4/15/23: This place is big and most likely you need to find the garage parking spot, easily $12 bucks after yoir done visiting. There os plenty of space outside and multiple floors to pick a spot to read a book at this location. They have all sorts of resources here. One thing that I love reading about, which was at one time Houston's landmark is Astroworld and the Astrodome....they have display about this here. Check it out if your interested in that.
