Granted that a lot of bookstores do the handwritten note based recommendations these days, this bookstore felt like they took special care to do it in almost all the sections. The staff were extremely nice! It has a decently sized collections of a variety of genres too

Borderlands Books is a must-go for people who love reading sci-if, fantasy, mystery and horror genres… This indie bookshop on Haight Street specializes in those kinds of books and has titles for a wide range of readers, from middle schoolers through adults.

The new arrivals, best sellers, and staff picks are near the front door. (They also have a small case of rare books in the center of the store, if you’re a collector.) Older paperbacks are in the back section of the store.

I enjoyed browsing around and found several new books I want to read, including the book I was on the hunt for… The people that work here are really friendly and helpful, too!

I was psyched to see there was a SFF-oriented bookstore. Borderlands had a great selection of books from our favorite genres, an inviting atmosphere, and friendly staff that had great recommendations. Glad we stopped in during our stay in SF!

Borderland Books is a wonderful sci-fi, mystery, fantasy, and horror bookstore. The staff are a wonder and super knowledgable. If you can describe a book or two that you love, they will be able to provide a wealth of additional suggestions and recommendations. They have a large selection of new books, but also used books, and some rare editions behind the counter. Truly a must-stop location when visiting San Francisco.

A great bookstore specializing in sci-fi, fantasy, horror and crime/mystery. They have really knowledgeable and helpful staff, a great collection of used and new books and provide good recommendations based on your reading preferences, plus they also buy used books for store credit.
Can easily spend a couple of hours browsing here

What an incredible place! We stumbled upon this after buying some sock next door!

The collection is beautiful and upon seeing a signed first edition of my favourite book… I didn’t even hesitate to spend $200 and leave a very happy man… if you’re a fantasy or sci-fi fan you will be in heaven here! Some truly amazing books!

This place is fantastic! My wife and I were visiting from Los Angeles and saw this pop up on a “must visit” list of SF. We were not disappointed! We asked for some recommendations and the ladies in there were very nice and recommended a few books. We ended up walking out of there with 7 books. We will return if we come back to SF!
