An usually high quality of secondhand nonfiction books centering on philosophy, Theology and social sciences, but also strong in arts. A great assortment on textiles, which interests me. The staff are unobtrusive and want to be left to their own devices. Coffee is available from a comparatively friendly but still unobtrusive colleague upstairs.
It's a clean, well organised and well priced bookshop. I have no idea how they make money.

I’ve been here multiple times, and doubt they read the reviews here because the place is so pretentious they probably don’t lower themselves to reading their own reviews, probably hurts their aura or something.
My partner has a masters degree in philosophy and was interested in this bookshop. I am mildly interested, though more of a creative. He wanted to visit here so I have come with him every time, and every time I have wanted to say something to the extremely unwelcoming staff in regards to the unpleasant atmosphere. I want to get out as soon as I get there. There is a person that lounges on the chaise lounge, that just watches you condescendingly and murmurs crap to the other staff. When asked if they take card, the attitude was hilarious, I had to hold back laughter because I could almost see their thought ‘Urgh I can’t be bothered dealing with these mortals’.
One time we went, one of the staff was just cutting up vegetables to have hummus on the counter next to their new espresso machine, which is probably just for staff/show.
The selection is quite good. It’s not a big place. Some of these five star reviews are bizarre. I wouldn’t rate a place five stars if I got screamed at.
The place reeks of ‘Daddy bought me a bookshop for money laundering purposes’.
Every time my partner and I have left, we have looked at each other and asked if the other felt unwelcome in there, and tonight when checking the reviews felt relieved we weren’t the only ones.
Such a shame cause it would be a really cool spot. I won’t be going back in even if my partner wants to, as I know I will end up saying something.
Not to worry though, I highly doubt they will miss me. If you are as insufferable as the staff, you will enjoy this bookshop.

Been twice without sucess, 55 mile round trip and he can't be bothered to open when advertised. Update your opening hours or turn up on time. Not even a phone number to check

I love this book store. The atmosphere is so inviting, and the store owner was so kind. We talked about books for a long time. There is a great assortment of books to search through! I will definitely be back next time!

Very large and great selection of books and such a cute and cosy little shop but the atmosphere felt really uninviting the whole time and felt like the store owner wanted us out and that we didn't fit in there, quite a shame cause it’s a lovely shop but it’s the second time my girlfriend and I have been in there and felt like that

First time visiting this little bookshop. Had expectations reading the reviews and hoped for a relaxed, cool place where you can read. It has a wide range of classics, from philosophy and psychology to poetry, history, and literature. However I was disappointed by the staff behaviour as it wasn’t welcoming.

I bought Doctor Zhivago there at £4 and the shop has a great vibe. The book collection is amazing. Would love to come again.

A great selection of classic works, spanning philosophy, psychology, poetry, history, literature and more.
Had a fascinating chat about philosophy with the owner and staff, who provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
I gave them a fiver and they gave me the entire collected works of shakespeare; where else does such an imbalanced transaction occur in favour of the customer?!
Love a good second hand bookshop!
