Super lovely, well curated bookshop with nice people working there and an interesting events calendar. If you go there just wanting a browse because you don't have much money it will seriously tax your powers of restraint - I couldn't resist. If it was any closer to me I'd have to consider becoming a supervillain in order to fund my visits.

I love this bookstore -- Portobello is my go-to bookshop for shopping overseas editions. I have ordered multiple books from them as an international customer, and the orders have always been dispatched quickly and packaged with thoughtful care. I also appreciate their wide online selection, particularly when it comes to signed editions or other exclusives.

One of the best curated bookstores I have visited. Fantastic mix of the best of new publishing along with important classics. Loved staying nearby and wished I lived closer! It’s dog friendly (lovely hearing little dog steps while browsing) and has a great accessible entrance with a gentle ramp and automatic door. I managed to find space for more books in my suitcase!

An absolutely gorgeous bookshop with an incredible range of books, from the ones you see everywhere, and some more unusual nd obscure ones.

They also have gorgeous stationary too - a must-visit for all book lovers!

I visited this bookshop for the first time and I absolutely loved it!
Being quite a visual person it was nice to see a lot of the books laid out - especially ones that may not necessarily be featured in bigger bookshops. Obviously I had to get a book as well and the cashier was very lovely!

Definitely will come again!

I've never been there, but, if their care with shipping internationally is any indication, this is a fantastic bookshop. My wife ordered me a signed book from Portobello for my birthday and it made its way from Edinburgh to Atlanta, Georgia in pristine condition. It was packaged extremely well along with a bonus bookmark and note. I would highly recommend ordering books from this bookshop, wherever you are in the world.

Excellent customer service! I was recently unwell and unable to make an event I had bought a ticket for, which included a signed copy of the book. I contacted Porty Books to advise and Euan very kindly offered to send my book to me at no extra charge. This was all organised within about 2 days of my emailing to advise I couldn’t attend (including my book arriving to me by recorded delivery). What a fab service - thanks Euan!

I ordered a signed copy of Len Pennie's "Poyums" from this store. Ordering internationally can be harrowing, because you never know if the item will arrive undamaged.

Not only did it make its way from Scotland to Canada in record time, the packaging was fantastic, and they even included a thank you note and a bookmark from their store!
