Large library. Interior design is very institutional. A few homeless people were camped out at the tables and a police woman was trying to get someone to leave the restroom. Has many free computers with internet.

Very beautiful location for photo point! Yes, it’s homeless in this area. But it is clean and the library have lots of public area for study. Beautiful and clean place!

I love this library because of the large children's books room and it's sheer size. We stopped by for the local authors event and enjoyed live music, performances and more. As Arthur used to say, "having fun isn't hard, when you've got a library card".

absolutely FULL of smelly homeless people, some of which were very obviously on drugs. They’re wheeling their carts full of smelly stuff which has to be carrying so many germs and fungi that I would never sit at any of the common spaces. No available tables anyways because these people take up all of the tables and computers. It is a beautiful library and well maintained but is functioning more of a shelter as of late. Very sad.

I am not trying to be anti-homeless but there has to be a better solution.

Miami Dade: please set up a separate “cooling center” because this is appalling.

If I had young children I would never take them here.

I’ve been attending the Miami Dade Public Library for the last few weeks as I prepare for an exam. I often have difficulty finding an open spot, and when I do, too many individuals are not properly using the space. Many individuals are eating (an entire Publix fried chicken), chatting loudly, watching Movies without headphones, sleeping etc. I am not even going to mention the bathrooms.

Today, after looking around the library for an open spot, I sat in the teenage area section (unknown) to study for my test. Officer Lenier came to me and demanded that I need it to leave the area very rudely. Only to later explain the reason. I explained to her that there were no other open seats with a power outlet. She returned 3 minutes later with an additional officer before I could finish my practice quiz, demanding I leave. I felt it was very unnecessary for two officers to come by and demand that I leave imminently, and I felt very cornered. I started packing my stuff as I explained that there were no open spots and that I felt attacked, given that everyone around me was breaking some type of rule.

It's unfair that I can't find a safe and quiet place in the library because rules are not enforced. I am forced to sit in the only open area and then harassed to leave immediately by the same officer who is not doing her job elsewhere in the library. This did NOT need to be escalated the way it did. Officer Lenier needs to leave her ego at home and have some training on addressing library patrons.

Unfortunately, the library is not a safe place to study due to officers like Lenier

It appears that the library is no longer functioning as a safe and suitable educational environment for children. The presence of homeless individuals and the unpleasant odors within the premises raise concerns about the overall safety and hygiene of the facility.

Is it a library or a shelter for homeless?
