I have been coming to this library for many years, mainly to have my children participate in the summer reading program. The children’s librarian is AWESOME and always knew me coming in. This year was our first visit to the library this summer and I was hoping for the same positive energy and experience. The gentleman who checked us out was not very friendly (I guess I annoyed him when I kept placing books on the counter, but I didn’t realize his book scanner was there) and almost snatched the books out of my hand before I could sit them down instead of asking me not to put them there. Everyone has bad or off days, which is understandable. It’s important to be prepared and professional when interacting with the public.

Today I have to sadly say that I called and asked for help in Spanish and the man who helped me said that there was no one who spoke Spanish and they could not help me. It is very sad that at this point a public library located in the middle of the city of Houston, where there is such a large Hispanic population, looks down on us and does not want to help in the Spanish language. Not everyone has the ability to be bilingual. Thinking that they do is called racism and not helping because of the lack of language is even worse racism.

You know what they say, don't judge a book by its cover. The exterior of the building is nothing to write home about, but the interior is beautiful! Especially the kids section.

The staff is great and everything is well organized. Highly recommend.

Awesome children's area with train table, play house, play kitchen, dress-up clothes ... And of course lots of books! And the family story time was very cute. Will be back.

Great neighborhood library with the essentials and available passport services by appointment. I do have to say that my experience reflects the few encounters with the male librarian. He’s very rude, and condescending. I noticed many people avoid him, because he is moody and seems to not like his job. Avoid this library if you can, Oak Forest is much better suited for families.

Nice library branch with big parking lot and plenty of spaces to sit down and work or read.
Seems like it got some renovations since it looks modern.
